Nessa cidade, desde 1965, idealizado pelo Prof. José Sant’anna, é realizado o Festival do Folclore, atualmente, em julho. Esta pesquisa discute a natureza do festival, compreendendo-o como um objeto cultural, inserido no contexto social como processo comunicacional. Descrever a festa, quanto a sua criação, origem, espaço, na busca da compreensão das manifestações dos grupos que se apresentam, ao colocar em pauta os conceitos de cultura, civilização, folclore, cultura popular, de massa e folkcomunicação. Os autores consultados são os integrantes da Escola de Frankfurt, estudos críticos da comunicação, e integrantes da Escola Culturalista inglesa com influência na América Latina e os brasileiros Luiz Beltrão e seus seguidores, da Folkcomunicação. Como método, utilizo a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, tendo como fonte de análise o material que registrou, nos Anuários, o percurso por mais de quatro décadas de sua realização. Isso tudo na tentativa, enfim, de reafirmar que o festival é um encontro da cultura brasileira, ao perguntar pela sua permanência, mudanças e importância que reconhece a cidade de Olímpia como a Capital Nacional do Folclore. É uma forma de manifestação popular que subsiste no tempo e espaço e que abre possibilidades para novas leituras do assunto. Ao promover o folclore nacional em todas as suas formas de expressão ao longo de sua história, o festival colabora para a manutenção de grupos folclóricos e parafolclóricos, o intercâmbio cultural de grupos de diferentes regiões brasileiras, para a preservação de costumes, músicas, danças e folguedos.The theme of this study is the realization of my teenager's dream, in the 1960s, when I was a student in “Capitão Narciso Bertolino” State School in Olimpia, a town located in the northern of São Paulo, Brazil. In this city, since 1965 is realized a Folklore Festival. This festival was idealized by Prof. José Sant’ anna and currently this event occurs in July. These research discuss the nature of the festival, and to understand how a cultural object, inserted in the social context as a communication process. Describe the party, as his creation, origin, space, in the quest to understand the manifestations of the groups that have put in question the concepts of culture, civilization, folklore, popular culture, mass and folk communication. The authors consulted were members of the Frankfurt School, critical studies of communication, and members of the Culturist English School with influence in Latin America and the Brazilian, as Luiz Beltrão of folk communication. As a method, I use the bibliographic and documentary, source analysis as having the material recorded in the Yearbook, the route for more than four decades of his achievement. This all in an effort finally to reaffirm that the festival is a meeting of Brazilian culture, asking for their stay, change and recognizes the importance that the city of Olímpia as the Capital's National Folklore. It is a popular form of manifestation that exists in time and space that opens up possibilities for new readings of the subject.
