Faz uma cronologia, marcada pela revisão das publicações jornalísticas do período analisado de 1968 a 1975. Pela revisão objetiva-se localizar as primeiras manifestações para a criação de um novo modelo de curso superior, as ideias, as ações dos atores envolvidos, a determinação das forças políticas estaduais e federais, que influenciaram na decisão de, efetivamente, implantar e testar, no país, os cursos de tecnologia. Analisa as necessidades de criação de cursos de curta duração voltados para o trabalho, para arranjos produtivos locais, para a transferência de tecnologia, para a interiorização da indústria e, sobretudo, para as necessidades técnicas da indústria brasileira. Relata as dificuldades de aceitação da instalação da Faculdade de Tecnologia por parte dos dirigentes locais e as constantes publicações negativas elaboradas pela mídia impressa. Faz um paralelo entre o desenvolvimento socioeconômico e industrial de Sorocaba e região e a instalação da Faculdade de Tecnologia, que aconteceram no mesmo período, mostrando a evolução da escola e de seus cursos para atender as necessidades técnicas do parque industrial instalado, o que demonstra a influência da Faculdade de Tecnologia no desenvolvimento industrial e socioeconômico da cidade de Sorocaba e da região.The thesis deals with the setup of the College of Technology from Sorocaba. It makes a chronology, characterized by the revision of journalistic publications of the analyzed period from 1968 to 1975. By reviewing the objective is to find the first signs for creating a new model of higher education course, the ideas, the actions of the actors involved, the determination of the state and federal political forces that influenced the decision to effectively deploy and test the courses of technology in the country. It analyzes the needs of creating short courses aiming to work for local productive arrangements for the transfer of technology to the internalization of the industry and especially to the technical needs of the Brazilian industry. It reports the difficulties of acceptance of the installation of the College of Technology by local leaders and the constant negative reports published by the printed media.
