A pesquisa ocorreu no interior da Instituição, onde se buscou fontes primárias e material complementar resultante de relatos proferidos por sujeitos a ela vinculados. Também se fez uso da bibliografia pré-existente. O período focado restringiu-se aos anos 80 do século XX. As questões centrais motivadoras foram: a unidade Tamboré, sendo inicialmente uma extensão do Mackenzie São Paulo, adquiriu uma identidade própria? Qual foi a proposta pedagógica da instituição na sua fundação? Para compreender a Instituição escolar confessional, tornou-se necessário um olhar sobre a trajetória do movimento religioso presbiteriano ocorrido fora e dentro do Brasil. Espera-se, com este estudo, prestar uma colaboração à historia de uma instituição escolar confessional, bem como dimensionar, mesmo que parcialmente, a importância das instituições escolares presbiterianas no quadro geral da educação brasileira.This investigation aims to research the origin and the foundation of the Presbyterian School Mackenzie-Tamboré, through the trajectory of the presbyterians in Brazil, since the origin and foundation of Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute in Sao Paulo. The research occurred inside the Institution, where primary sources and complimentary material originated from oral speeches made by the individuals related to it were searched. Pre–existent bibliography was also used. The period in focus was restricted to the 80’s of the XX century. The motivational major questions were: Being initially an extension of Mackenzie São Paulo was Tamboré unit able to acquire its own identity? What was the Institution pedagogical proposal in its foundation? To understand the confessional educational institution, a look at the trajectory of the presbyterian religious movement that occurred outside and inside Brazil was necessary. It’s expected, with this study, to collaborate with the history of a confessional educational institution, as well as to give dimension, even though partially, to the importance of the presbyterian educational institutions in the general picture of the Brazilian education.Educação - HistóriaPresbiterianismo - BrasilDissertação
