O objetivo principal dessa dissertação é conhecer a prática pedagógica na educação ambiental em Sorocaba, para que, a partir daí, possam advir outras práticas sociais que englobem uma educação ambiental que não desconsidere questões sócio-econômicas. políticas, culturais e históricas que não podem estar ausentes no discurso ambientalista. Ao término da investigação percebi que a maior parte das atividades educacionais que acontecem em Sorocaba, sob o título de educação ambiental, aproximam-se mais de aulas de zoologia e ecologia, revelando, assim, uma representação social naturalista frente ao tema meio ambiente e educação ambiental - com preocupações preservacionistas e conservacionistas do meio ambiente, pouco considerando a ação do homem sobre o espaço ambiental por ele ocupado, no qual, aspectos sociais e antropológicos não podem ficar de fora.Starting from the presupposition that the History is constructed from daily actions of social agents, anonymous or not, I decided to rescue the History of Environmental Education in Sorocaba, through the speech of some characters, besides the intersection of these information with the documentation analysis presented by publications, newspaper headlines, informative folders, etc. This methodological choice was made due the fact that I believe that, unveiling speech, we can get closer to the events excluded from "official" History, The main objective of this dissertation is to know the pedagogic practice within the environmental education in Sorocaba, in order to, from this point, other social practices could in appear, taking in account the economical, social, political, cultural and historical issues that must not be missing on environmental speech.
