| dc.description.abstract | O cirurgião-dentista é um dos profissionais atuantes na equipe multidisciplinar na reabilitação de pacientes oncológicos com perda de estruturas faciais como consequência de procedimentos cirúrgicos que visam tratar as neoplasias. Tais perdas prejudicam função e estética, afetando o estado psicológico e a autoestima do paciente. A prótese bucomaxilofacial é um recurso que pode ser utilizado nessas situações reabilitadoras, sendo de suma importância a atuação do cirurgião-dentista na reabilitação com este tipo de prótese em pacientes oncológicos. Desta forma, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura em artigos científicos das plataformas PubMed, Google Acadêmico e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde publicados no período entre 2019 e 2023, que teve como objetivo evidenciar a relevância deste profissional nestes casos, apresentando os diferentes tipos de próteses bucomaxilofaciais, demonstrando seu processo de confecção e citando os tipos de materiais utilizados. Conclui-se, portanto, que a atuação do cirurgião-dentista na reabilitação do paciente oncológico pode contribuir para a devolução de funções do sistema estomatognático e da estética facial, melhorando os aspectos psicossociais e colaborando para a reinserção do indivíduo na sociedade. | pt |
| dc.description.abstract | The dentist is one of the professionals working in the multidisciplinary team in the rehabilitation of cancer patients with loss of facial structures as a result of surgical procedures aimed at treating neoplasms. Such losses impair function and aesthetics, affecting the patient's psychological state and self-esteem. The oral and maxillofacial prosthesis is a resource that can be used in these rehabilitative situations, and the role of the dentist in rehabilitation with this type of prosthesis in cancer patients is extremely important. In this way, a literature review was carried out on scientific articles from the PubMed, Google Scholar and Virtual Health Library platforms published between 2019 and 2023, which aimed to highlight the relevance of this professional in these cases, presenting the different types of oral and maxillofacial prostheses, demonstrating its manufacturing process and mentioning the types of materials used. It is concluded, therefore, that the dentist's role in the rehabilitation of cancer patients can contribute to the return of functions of the stomatognathic system and facial aesthetics, improving psychosocial aspects and contributing to the individual's reintegration into society. | en |
