Tomando como fontes de pesquisa bibliografias, dados de infraestrutura, documentos, legislação, matérias de jornais e entrevistas com ex-professores e ex-diretor. Com referenciais teóricos de autores como Justino P. Magalhães, Luiz A. Cunha, Ester Buffa e Paolo Nosella, o trabalho discorre em um retrospecto da legislação federal e estadual sobre o ensino profissional, trazendo acontecimentos importantes ocorridos no Brasil que influenciaram os rumos da educação profissional no estado de São Paulo e cidade de Sorocaba. Além de apresentar informações importantes como os relatos, tem por objetivo reconstruir a história da instituição escolar e trazer aspectos da relação da sociedade sorocabana com a “Escola Professor Rubens de Faria e Souza” e qual foi a importância da instituição para a formação profissional do município.This thesis is a study on school institutions and addresses the transformations in the field of technical education in the municipality of Sorocaba, through a historical reconstruction of the Technical School "Professor Rubens de Faria e Souza" in a time cut from 1960 to 1982.
