Uma proposta educativa que vise à liberdade e à integralidade da pessoa pode resgatar a dignidade e o valor dos seres humanos nela envolvidos, além de contextualizar a educação no seu cotidiano e nas diferentes realidades em que essa acontece. A ação educativa abarca não só a informação e a formação, mas, através dessas, deve favorecer a promoção da pessoa, no que tange as perguntas de sua existência e constituição humana. Utilizando dois itinerários, a abordagem teórica e a pesquisa qualitativa, a autora do presente trabalho, procurou analisar a relação educativa pautada na eleição de valores e vivência do sentido de vida, presentes nas atitudes de educadores e educandos. Para tanto, baseou-se na definição do conceito de homem, como o ser capaz de desenvolver valores e transcender seus limites em direção à realização plena de sua vida, através dos estudos de Viktor Frankl. Como método propiciador dessa busca ontológica, foi utilizado o trabalho de Paulo Freire. O objetivo final deste processo fundamenta-se nos estudos de Victor Garcia Hoz, que afirma ser a educação um instrumento para que o homem atinja a alegria, devendo ser essa a base de toda e qualquer atitude educativa. A pesquisa de campo teve por objeto de estudo alunos do Magistério do ensino público de Sorocaba. Através do emprego da entrevista semi-estruturada, desenvolveu-se o levantamento das categorias e análise dos temas, ampliando a visão do presente trabalho para outros tópicos relacionados com a educação, tais como família, relação teoria e prática e repercussão da escolha profissional. A importância do encontro entre educador e educando e a sua valorização como possibilidade de desenvolvimento integral da pessoa, inclusive a característica comunitária que a constitui, foi identificada nas conclusões do presente estudo, confirmando a indagação inicial sobre a relação entre processo educativo, valores e vivência do sentido de vida.Educating presupposes making value options and having ethical commitments. An educational proposal which aims at a free and integral recovers the dignity and value of the individuals involved; moreover, it will contextualize education in the different realities of its development. Education should not only embraces the aspects of information and formation but, through them, support the promotion of the person, enabling the reflection concerning the fundamental questions of the human existence. By following two different routes - the theoretical approach and qualitative research - the researcher analyzed the educational relationship based on the choice of values and the search for the meaning of life present in the attitudes of educators and learners. The concept of man as someone capable of realizing values, transcending their own limits towards the complete realization of life was dealt with by Viktor Frankl. The method for this ontological search was developed after the work of Paulo Freire. The ultimate aim of the process are based on the studies of Victor Garcia Hoz, who describes education as an instrument for man to achieve joy. It is this joy which should be the basis of all educational attitude. The research was carried out with students in the teacher training courses offered by public schools in the city of Sorocaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Through open-ended interviews, the researcher went about the selection of categories and the analysis of themes - which allowed this work to touch on subjects other than related to education as family, the relationship between the theory and practice and the consequences of choosing the teaching profession. The importance of the encounter between educator and learned and its valorization as a possibility of an integral development of the individual, including its social characteristics, was identified in the conclusions of the present work confirming the initial inquiry about the relationship between the educational process, values and the search for the meaning of life.Educação - FilosofiaÉtica e educaçãoProfessores - FormaçãoValoresDissertação
