A legenda oculta no jornal televisivo e a comunicação dos surdos

| dc.description.abstract | Essa pesquisa tem como objeto de análise o sistema Closed Caption destinado a telespectadores Surdos. Queremos saber se a legendagem televisiva produzida hoje, por esse sistema, efetivamente beneficia o telespectador Surdo, uma vez que ela segue fielmente a narração da fala. Decorre dessa problemática o objetivo de verificar se ocorre, para esse tipo de receptor, a compreensão do conteúdo da legenda. Nesse sentido, a hipótese que projetamos é que a possibilidade de uma adaptação no modelo de legenda oculta, facilitaria o entendimento do conteúdo veiculado pela mídia televisiva. Para isso, a metodologia adotada consistiu em uma abordagem teórica e empírica, fundamentada em método qualitativo baseado no relato de pessoas Surdas durante duas reuniões de Grupo Focal, na cidade de Sorocaba/SP. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: a) observação do jornal televisivo com legenda oculta e b) seleção de trechos da legenda que pudessem resultar no impedimento da compreensão dos sentidos da legenda pelo Surdo. Com isso, constatamos que a legenda é uma aliada para a acessibilidade de deficientes auditivos, mas ainda há débito em relação ao telespectador Surdo em três aspectos: velocidade, condensação e edição, salientando ainda que o segundo teria maior compatibilidade com a Libras. Notamos também que há necessidade de aproximação dos profissionais do campo da comunicação para a realidade linguística e cultural das pessoas Surdas, incluindo-as neste processo. Nosso referencial teórico está sob a ótica da concepção de que os meios são extensão do homem segundo Herbert Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980). | dc.description.abstract | This research has as object of analysis the Closed Caption system for Deaf viewers. We want to know if the television subtitling produced today by this system effectively benefits the Deaf viewer, since it faithfully follows the narration of speech. The objective of this problem is to verify if there is an understanding of the content of the subtitle for this type of receiver. In this sense, the hypothesis we have projected is that the possibility of an adaptation in the model of hidden legend, would facilitate the understanding of the content conveyed by the television media. For this, the methodology adopted consisted of a theoretical and empirical approach, based on a qualitative method based on the report of Deaf people during two meetings of Focal Group, in the city of Sorocaba / SP. The instruments used were: a) observation of the television newspaper with hidden legend and b) selection of excerpts from the caption that could result in an impediment to understanding the meanings of the legend by the Deaf. With this, we found that the legend is an ally for the accessibility of hearing impaired, but there is still a debt to the Deaf viewer in three aspects: speed, condensation and editing, emphasizing that the second one would be more compatible with Libras. We also note that there is a need to bring professionals from the field of communication closer to the linguistic and cultural reality of Deaf people, including them in this process. Our theoretical framework is based on the view that the media are the extension of man according to Herbert Marshall McLuhan (1911- 1980).
